Archipelago Raid
The Archipelago Raid is an extreme sailing competition for F18 catamarans in the Swedish and Finnish archipelagos where Sport, Nature and Adventure are perfectly associated. The first staging of the event was 2001 and is today considered as the largest and most extreme orienteering sailing competition in the world with participation by some of the world’s best sailors from a varied background.
The Archipelago contributes with a unique arena with rocks and islands everywhere creating an extremely difficult area for navigation, especially at night. The racing goes on both day and night and the course consists of various checkpoints revealed to the teams during the race. Outside assistance is not allowed and the teams have to be self sufficient during the whole race increasing demands on not only sailing, navigation and endurance skills but also maintenance and logistics.
